Face of the Week: Odogun Omololu

Introduction and Background

Lk: Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your role in the university?

Omololu: My name is Odogun Omololu, a 300-level Law student at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. I currently serve as the Class Representative of my level.

Lk: What do you enjoy doing outside of your law studies?

Omololu: Outside the legal world, I enjoy staying updated with current events—I find solace in reading news online. I’m also a big football fan, and I love reading books on leadership.

Lk: What motivated you to choose law as a course of study?

Omololu: I chose law because I have always been interested in justice and how rules help shape our society. Seeing how lawyers use their voice and knowledge to make a difference really inspired me. For me, law isn’t just a career, it’s a way to stand up for people and help make things right.

Lk: Have you ever faced any challenges or doubts about your choice of law, and how do you overcome them?

Omololu: Honestly, there have been times when I felt overwhelmed, especially during exams or when handling a lot of responsibilities at once. Law can be tough. But I have never regretted choosing it. When things get hard, I remind myself why I started and what I want to achieve.

Lk: What is one major challenge you face in studying law, and how do you deal with it?

Omololu: To be honest, law is a very challenging course. One major challenge I often face is the limited time given to answer exam questions. I believe many law students also struggle with this. Sometimes, it makes it hard to answer all the questions or to answer them well. To deal with this, I came up with a method that helps me manage my time during exams. I call it the "ranking system."

Lk: What motivates you to keep pushing forward in your studies and other activities?

Omololu: My motivation comes from a clear vision — to speak up for those who can’t and to help make our country a better place. What drives me every day is knowing that each step I take brings me closer to that dream.

Lk: How do you manage your time effectively to balance academics and other responsibilities?

Omololu: I have come to understand that effective time management isn't about trying to do everything at once, but about focusing on what matters most in each moment.

Lk: What qualities do you think make a good lawyer, and why?

Omololu: A good lawyer works hard, a good lawyer is honest, and always ready to learn. They also need to understand people, talk clearly, and be strong in hard times.

Lk: What advice would you give to your fellow law students?

Omololu: Keep learning and do not give up when it gets hard. Read a lot, learn from others, and don't hesitate to ask questions. Also, have fun.

Lk: Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your background?

Adekunle: My name is Akinola Adekunle Kehinde. I'm a 300-level law student of this prestigious faculty. I'm a native of Ekiti state.

Lk: What do you enjoy doing outside of your law studies?

Adekunle: Outside law, I enjoy playing football, watching movies, and reading. I consider myself quite versatile. I believe it is important not to be constrained to the sphere of Law alone. I align with the popular saying; 'Do not just pass through school, allow school to pass through you too'.

Lk: What motivated you to choose law as a course of study?

Adekunle: I was motivated by my parents.

Lk: Do you have any regrets about choosing law, and how has your experience been so far?

Adekunle: To the glory of God, I do not have regrets, studying law has been life-changing.

Lk: What challenges have you faced in studying law, and how do you overcome them?

Adekunle: Well, as most persons too, the challenge is juggling academics with extracurricular activities. This hasn't been too easy, considering that I am very well interested in healthy and helpful activities that will not only energize my physique, but would also strengthen my mind.

Lk: What motivates you to keep pushing forward in your studies and other activities?

Adekunle: What particularly motivates me to keep pushing forward is my strive for success. I honestly despise failure and with the help of a determined spirit, I hold on to my faith and act with utmost preparation at all times.

Lk: How do you manage your time effectively to balance academics and other responsibilities?

Adekunle: I am of the belief that a man who values time, values his life and vice versa. With respect to this, I ensure that I am time-cautious at all times. So, I mostly work on extracurricular activities in the day and study hard at night. This is because I assimilate quickly at night and also get to brood on what I have learned in the day, at night.

Lk: What qualities do you think make a good lawyer, and why?

Adekunle: I would say proper advocacy and an excellent writing ability. If a lawyer is good, beyond any probability, in his advocacy and writing, amongst other things. A lawyer must have a quick and retentive memory and the foresight of a sage.

Lk: What advice would you give to your fellow law students?

Adekunle: Trust God and Work Hard.
